Fear

The number Of people who suffer from fear are on the rise. We can say that fear is the problem of our time. Fear is against faith. If we have faith we will have not fear. Faith comes by reading the Bible daily. Most of us neglect reading the Bible with the excuse that they do not have time. We worry too much about little things in life.

Fear has three sources

1- Fear of God

There is bad kind of fears, but the fear of God is a good thing to have because. He is an awesome God and we ought to fear Him.

A- We fear God because when we sin against Him

This is the worst kind of fear because we feel that God is always monitoring every move to punish us if we do anything wrong. This may or may not be the case. Sometimes the fear can be caused when God’s Hand is lifted up of us and the hand of Satan interferes to harm us.

The solution to this problem

The solution to this problem is when we reject totally our sins because there is punishment for every sin “whatever you spread you will reap” and the Bible say “When a man’s ways please the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.” {Pr16 :7}

B- Fear of God for He is great and worthy of our reverence and we should follow all His ways

This is favored fear for we ought to know who is this God. He is great and mighty one. We have to know the extend of His greatness for if we know that we will know who He is. He is the God who fills this earth with His greatness. He is the one who was incarnate and crucified for my sake and your sake. He loved us very much. He made every thing for our sake. But we are to obey him not because we fear Him but because we are redeemed by His precious blood. We have to obey Him because we love Him and we want to honor Him.

The solution to this problem

We have to know that this awesome God was incarnate to redeem everyone of us. Paul said ‘He loved me and died for my sake”. The Bible said “When a man’s ways please the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.” {Jo 1: 12}. As a general rule: you will see your heavenly father as you see your earthly father. If your earthly father was kind to you, you will see your heavenly father as loving and kind to you. And the opposite is true. You have to trust God. Do not save and deprive your self and your family from any thing. The Bible says “Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.” {1Te 6: 17}

C- Because of our ultimate love we fear to upset Him or be separated from Him

The true children lf God fear to upset Him very much. They watch every thing they say or do fearing they may upset him and be separated from His presence.

 2-Fear of man

A- Fear of man if he is an evil person

Many of us fear the wicked people and this is wrong because we are in the hand of a mighty God. The Bible say “"Listen to Me, you who know righteousness, You people in whose heart is My law: Do not fear the reproach of men, Nor be afraid of their insults. For the moth will eat them up like a garment, And the worm will eat them like wool; But My righteousness will be forever, And My salvation from generation to generation." {Is51:7,8} if the law of the Lord in your heart do not be afraid of the reproach of men or their insult. God Himself is saying "I, even I, am He who comforts you. Who are you that you should be afraid Of a man who will die, And of the son of a man who will be made like grass?  And you forget the LORD your Maker, Who stretched out the heavens And laid the foundations of the earth; You have feared continually every day Because of the fury of the oppressor, When he has prepared to destroy. And where is the fury of the oppressor?” {Is51: 12,13} just fear God and every one will fear harming you.

B- The fear of man if he is a godly person

Over the ages we see that people feat the man who fear God and walk blameless with the Lord. We see that with the great prophets like Moses, Elijah and Elisa. And in the book of acts we read “Yet none of the rest dared join them, but the people esteemed them highly.” {Ac 5:13} the apostles and the people with them, they were esteem highly. If you have a good relationship with the Lord people will revere you. Remember pop Kyrolos the sixth everyone revered him greatly.

C- The fear of a man that has a high place in the world and in the church

We respect a person if he has a high place in the society. Also we respect the person who has high place in the church, we have to respect him and he also has to love and respect those whom he serves. One word I refuse to say is “my master” or “sayadna” it is not biblical for Jesus forbid us to say it. The root of this word is in Islam and not Christianity. I urge every bishop to refuse to be called with this word because we are member of one body and that is the body of Jesus Christ.

 3- Fear caused by evil spirits

This is the most important issue because I think it is new concept to the readers that is some fear is caused by evil spirits. The Bible mention that “For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father." {Ro8:15} the Bible mention here that fear is caused by evil spirit. If you feel suddenly afraid or you feel afraid with no reason then this may be caused by evil spirit. The Bible also say “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” {2Ti 1:7}

“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.” {1Jo4:18} I want to study the words “fear involves torment”. The Greek words for torment means eternal torment and it mentioned only twice in this last verse and in Mathew 25 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels…..  "And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."” [Mt25: 41,46} the word fear involves torment it is the same word everlasting punishment. Comparing the two words we see that fear has the same effect as the punishment for Satan and his angels.

I will mention a true story and after that I will explain how to deal with the spirit of fear.

True story

I met her in one of the places we lived in. she was close to me and she use to ask me to pray for her because she can not sleep until she puts the light on in the whole house. She was always fearful. I use to tell her you are a believer in Jesus Christ. One day she said you have to pray for me. I prayed and I felt that when she was a teenager something happened to her, so she told me the story: she got married when she was teenager and she lived with her in-laws. Her in laws practiced witchcraft and after six months she felt a demon stood on the top of the bed and held her both legs and shook them very hard. From that day she could not leave the bed for six months until her father came and took her with him. She gradually started to walk again until she became well. Form that day on she was always fearful.

I knew that fear spirit entered her and I had to pray for the evil spirit to leave her.

How to pray against the evil spirit?

Any person who lives a godly life, true godly life which means he does not sin purposely and intentionally. He may sin unintentionally but he repents immediately as the Holy Spirit convicts him. He also has to stand before the throne of God blameless. Any one live that godly life can cast out evil spirits. This is what Jesus said to his disciples “He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” {Mr16:16-18} do you believe in Jesus christ. Do you practice your baptism. The meaning of baptism is to live totally for Jesus Christ. These signs will follow you and the first one is you shall cast out demons in Jesus name. you will never be able to cast out demons without the power of Jesus name.

it is the desire of God’s heart to give us victory over all demons in His name.
