Why Jesus came 1

Many Christian do not know fully why Jesus came. In this series of article we will try to understand why Jesus came from heaven to earth which is full of suffering.

Some of the reasons why Jesus came to earth are the following:

1- Jesus came to cancel the sin of Adam. We are not under the sin of Adam any more.
2- Jesus came to cancel the effects of our sins that we have committed if we repent of them.
3- Jesus came to give us authority to pray in His name to heavenly father and know that our requests will be answered. Jesus gave us, His children, to pray to the heavenly father in His name and our prayer will be answered. I gave an example last article how a lady prayed in Jesus name to get a house which can accommodate her ministry and she got exactly what she prayed in Jesus name.
4- Jesus came to give us the Holy Spirit that we may not be like orphanages. I also gave example of a woman who has been sexually abused very bad. When I heard the story I wept for the severity of the abuse. I said to her there is nothing I can do for you except to pray for the Holy Spirit to comfort you for he said I will not leave orphanage. And true she was healed and after that she was holding a class in the church for sexually abused ladies.
I stopp here and I say that I felt that I did not give the Holy Spirit His due right in writing about Him. For I say this; there are no human being can give the Holy Spirit His due right in the past, present or the future for He is the living God. That is why I will explain in few point who is the Holy Spirit?
I can not imagine a Christian person who neglect the cultivation of a relationship with Holy Spirit, especially if he is a servant of the Lord. I personally say the following, I will not be able to serve Jesus without the Holy Spirit. The secret of my success in counseling that I was seeking the advise of the Holy Spirit all the times. I do the same concerning my writing I always seeks His guidance. This will take us to the subject of the Holy Spirit as a guidance
Holy Spirit as a guidance
The Holy Spirit will guide us to the whole truth: Jesus said to His disciples: “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. "He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.” {Jon16:12-14} the Holy Spirit will guide us to the whole truth for He will not speak on His own authority, , but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. "He will glorify Jesus, for He will take of what is of Jesus and declare it to you.
I know of a family and some one has a company and he asked them to join in with him in the company. The wife prayed and she felt the Holy Spirit saying no. so she told her husband with the answer. But the husband felt this is a good opportunity and he went and had a meeting with the owner and he came back very convinced but the wife prayed again and she said the Holy Spirit told her that the partner was a corrupt person and that is why we should not be partakers in this venture. Few months later the owner of the company called them and said that his partner was a corrupt person and he is on his own now. When the wife heard the story she said, did not the Holy Spirit said that before.
What if the wife did not have a good relationship with Holy Spirit? They would lost their money or had difficulty recovering it.
The Holy Spirit gives you the ability to discern what is right from wrong
A fiend of mine said to me about a servant and he is in a leadership place and he made some wrong decisions. My friend said to me it is ok, he is a human been and he is open to make mistakes. I said to him this person has laying of hands on him, he suppose to have the Holy Spirit in him, he suppose to have the discernment of the Holy Spirit working in him.
If the Christian person needs any thing these days, he need the Holy Spirit discernment. We face these days waves of deception in every area of life even and in the church also. We have now servant who has no relationship with Jesus Christ and do not know the Bible and have an assured opinion in life which is nothing but pure deception.
I have an opinion in this life and this is it:
Do not trust fully in these two profession: people in the medical field and the clergy men for one wrong advise from any of them can heart you badly. That is why I read a lot about my ailment so when a doctor gives me advise I am not comfortable with I can discus it with him. And I also read the Bible a lot so I understand what the word of God says about life matters that is why I always advise my reader to read the Bible daily so they will know what the Bible says about life matters.
True story
In one of the cities that we lived in, this conversation went on between a Coptic priest and me. He was the priest of the church we used to go to. He gave me an opinion and I was not convinced this advise was according to the Bible so I asked him where I could find this advise in the Bible so he said to me listen to what I say and he repeated a saying, which is believed to be Bible verse and it is not, and it goes like this: the son who obeys, the blessing of the Lord will come upon him. I said to him tell me where I can find this verse in the Bible because I believe this is not in the Bible for the Bible says “"We ought to obey God rather than men” {Act5:29}
The question I want to ask now is: what if I did not know the Bible and the opinion of the priest was contrary to the Bible? I would have been fooled by his opinion.
The tragedy we live in it now
The biggest tragedy we are facing now is; we have grieved and quenched the Holy Spirit because we have ignored His guidance in our own affairs and in the affairs of the ministry. The book of Acts full of reference which indicate that the early church was always seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit in all its decision. The Holy Spirit now does not have the absolute authority and does not take the role of the divine guidance in our lives as it was in the early church. The early church have established the right way to follow. “For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things” {Act15:28} from the this verse we see that it said: for it seemed good to the Holy Spirit. The early church relied totally on the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
“After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them.
……they came down to Troas. And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying, "Come over to Macedonia and help us." Now after he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them.” {Act 16:7-10}
the Holy Spirit guided Paul to where he should preach the Gospel. I think that some servants do have intimacy with the Holy Spirit and in return if they do not have intimacy with Spirit they will not understand what the Bible says for the Bible is written by the Holy Spirit. If the servant can not understand the Bible he can not teach it to others.
This is the cause of the servant ignorance of the Bible, whoever is that servant.
The Holy Spirit as comforter
We mentioned in the last article how the Spirit comforted this lady who went through a bad experience of sexual abuse.
The Holy Spirit as a teacher
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.” {Joh14:26} many times I hear the following: I can not memorize the Bible verses, I do not recall what I have read. My answer to this is: if you read the Bible in the spirit of prayer and you come to the Holy Spirit for guidance, then the Spirit will guide as a teacher and He will remind you of what you read in the right time. You will find you remember the right verse in the right time.
He is the teacher that teaches us every thing. All is required from us is to come to Him to teach us.
And He is the one remind us of what is written in the Bible, that if we read the Bible.
The importance of the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of a Christian
One of the most important points that Jesus made an emphasis before He went to the cross were the importance of the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of a Christian “"Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.”{Joh16:7} we do not hear much about the Holy Spirit in sermons.
The Holy Spirit has fruits and gifts “ But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self–control. Against such there is no law.” {Ga5:22,23} unless the Holy Spirit lives in you without grieving, you will not have the fruits and the gifts of Him.
The fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit
The Bible speaks about the gifts of the Spirit in first Corinthian chapter 12 and 14. I encourage every Christian to read these chapters. We do not hear about the gifts because they are considered unorthodox. We hear about them very little although Pop Cyril the six his power was in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. They worked in him for the glory of Jesus and to built the church.
The history of the church are full of the gifts and fruits of the Spirit.
The church was praying for people who have the gifts of healing and the gifts of tongues in the mass until after the tenth century. Read the Arabic version to know the details of this points.
It is seldom when we see some one has the gifts of Spirit.
The Coptic orthodox church is great because we are a church who believes in the Holy Spirit and its work among the church.
How we practice the guidance of the Holy Spirit?
1-we have to read the Bible daily and read it in order. Read the new testament first.
2-we have to apply what we read in the Bible in our lives
3- we have to ask all the times for the filling of the Spirit. We have to ask from all our heart. The Holy Spirit will teach you how to hear His voice.
The Holy Spirit dwells in Christian now and we have to encourage His fruits and nine gifts. That is how we build the church……………to be continued
